JOSHUA CHAPTER 11
Please take your Bible and read carefully the whole chapter before you begin. While reading the study please keep your Bible open, so that you can gain the maximum benefit from this feast in the Word.
In this study of JOSHUA CHAPTER 11 you will be greatly encouraged to cope with the conflicts of life in a confident and courageous manner. Take the time to read and study it at least twice and meditate on all the Scriptures mentioned.
The enemies of Joshua united in their attack against Israel. They came out in their multitudes as the sand on the sea shore but God told Joshua not to fear for in 24 hours He would deliver them up, slain before Israel. Joshua and all his people of war responded without delay and came upon them suddenly. The Lord delivered them into his hand as He had promised. Today believers are under attack from satan, our enemy, but we have been given power and authority over all the works of the devil, LUKE 10:19, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” See also 1 JOHN 5:4 and ROMANS 8:37. Remember, satan often seeks to snare us through that which appeals to the carnal mind. He presents himself as an angel of light (2 CORINTHIANS 11:14) and sin as a harmless desirable thing. He is the great deceiver. Read carefully 2 CORINTHIANS 11:4 and 2 PETER 2:18. EPHESIANS 4:17-32, “This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind. Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” See EPHESIANS 5:1-21. When we are aware of satan’s snares we will not be his victim, but a victor over him as we continue to do the will of God. It is absolutely essential for us to keep our eyes on the Lord and what He has called us to do, for without a vision the people perish, PROVERBS 29:18. Feeding Daily on God’s Word will keep us spiritually strong and healthy. JOSHUA 1:8, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” (See also PSALM 1; PROVERBS 4:20-22). Don’t become obsessed with satan’s work, get on with doing God’s will on a daily basis, and the Lord will take care of all your needs, MATTHEW 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousess; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Encouragement To Conquer
The Lord will always encourage us to go forward in His strength without fear, for He has ordained us to conquer. He will constantly make us aware that He is our sufficiency and that we are strengthened through fellowshipping with other believers. It is therefore vital to be consistent in attending a Bible believing church, where we can grow and serve the Lord, (HEBREWS 10:25). Paul was encouraged of the Lord in ACTS 23:11, to go and testify at Rome as he had testified at Jerusalem. He encouraged others at a time when they were in a storm on the sea by saying to them, “And now I exhort you be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship. For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am and whom I serve, Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath give thee all them that sail with thee. Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me,” ACTS 27:22-25. God has promised that He will bring us through every storm and battle in life, if we will fully trust Him and act upon His Word, ISAIAH 41:10,13, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.” ISAIAH 43:2, “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.” 2 KINGS 6:16, “And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.” Remember we are called to conquer in life, because we are part of the family of God, ROMANS 8:17, “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.” 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new.” 1 JOHN 4:4, “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
The Time To Triumph
God caused Joshua to know that this was his time to triumph and win over his enemies. However, in order to enjoy the victory, he had to immediately respond to God’s Word and go forward in faith. We need to be specific in our prayers, and claim the inheritance that we have been promised. ROMANS 13:11, “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.” 1 SAMUEL 17:34-36, “And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.” EPHESIANS 6:10-18, “Finally my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints:” Now is the time to triumph over sin, sickness, fear and doubt. Now is the time to triumph over hatred, bitterness and all the works of the devil. 1 JOHN 3:8 says, “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” (See also ACTS 10:38). We the redeemed of the Lord are His ambassadors (2 CORINTHIANS 5:20). So let’s turn the lights of this glorious gospel on, so the world who sit in darkness can see the way, Jesus is the only Way. JOHN 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” 2 CORINTHIANS 2:14, “Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of His knowledge by us in every place.” When we triumph others taste and see that the Lord is good.
